Another year has come to an end - where did it go? I can't even imagine that time can go any quicker than it already does, but my elders will tell me the older you get the faster it goes - hmm!! I need new sneakers!! We had a nice Christmas with our families and the bad weather did not hamper our travels. I had become "okay" with having to be snowbound at home and had brought the sewing machine with a work bag of fabrics to settle in for some "hope i remembered everything i need" sewing time at my house. It does seem that when i get it hauled home, the snowstorm doesn't happen and i carry the stuff in the house and back to the shop again the very next day. Several people said they were home those days, but both my husband and i have the "need to get going" syndrome and are seldom stranded at home for a day. I really had convinced myself this was God's way of slowing us all down and helping us remember what the real reason is for this ever so important season. We ventured home to my Mom and Dad's on Sunday and the picture above is the view from their kitchen window. I grew up on the MN River and the area there is some of God's finest works!! The recent snow made it a very serene setting on Sunday. We watched three bald eagles sitting in the trees by the river as we ate lunch that afternoon along with a cardinal that i just couldn't get close enough to for a good picture. I learned later that after i decided to go outside to walk off some of the lunch i had indulged in and take some pictures to share of the beauty of my upbringing that the cardinal flew right up on the porch near the window so i missed that "good" cardinal picture. They are a beautiful bird!! Our week has brought odds & ends for Darci which didn't have much to do with fabric and Lacey creating a beautiful lap quilt and presently finishing up a cloth book. I haven't had much luck with the pictures so they will have to be posted next week. I hope that you have a safe New Years Eve and a relaxing day to the start of the next year!! Blessings! Darci

Warm Christmas wishes to all of you!! Today it really sounds like we are going to have a White Christmas in which the night may be Silent, and all will be calm. As a storm appears to be on it's way that could hamper our travels, this may be our call to slow down and enjoy the true meaning of Christmas behind the busy travel plans, and gifts we rush out to buy. I truly hope my family and I will be able to enjoy our tradition of Christmas Eve church service, but as long as we are together in our warm home with soft Christmas lights, we will enjoy the peacefulness Christmas can bring and the soft snow that will be falling as there truly something beautiful with a snowy Christmas Eve.
To share a bit from our Christmas letter that was sent out today . . . our family again traveled to Florida for the Daytona 500 by car, which we all thoroughly enjoyed. We were very thankful to have had a mechanic as our pilot as we had car trouble in Iowa of all places!! After an unexpected night in a motel we were off again with parts in the morning. My folks babysat the newest family member, Abby (a little black lab puppy) who graced our family last Christmas. After the hunting season, she has earned a permanent place in our home and has made up for all the "hyperness" she brought into the family! Lacey and I took a business trip to Pittsburgh for International Quilt Market last May and truly enjoyed the beautiful city. We would both go back in a heartbeat!
Owen & I continue to work next to each other in Clara City and usually see each other at dinner time, but not always! We both enjoy our work but there isn't much time spent outside our walls. Lacey turned 21 this year and is finishing up her 3rd year of college. We have been lucky she has stayed at home and helps out with home life and work for both Owen and I. She is pursuing an Occupational Therapy degre and will most likely end up at St. Kate's in the cities next fall. Joseph moved to the Senior High School this year at MACCRAY and enjoys it very much. He is active in band, choir, and started basketball this year. He and dad enjoy several "boys" weekends this fall funting, which they enjoy very much and Lacey and I have "girls" weekends when we go shopping together. Racing still continues to occupy the summer months for Owen, Lacey & Joe, but I believe we all "race" 52 weeks out fo the year with life.
We hope you all have a safe and happy Christmas and New Year with your family and friends. May God bless each and every one of you this Christmas Season and in the New Year!

Good day to all! The sun is shining today and it is warming up a bit - thank you God!! We have our white ground, but still it doesn't seem Christmas is next week. I have talked with quite a number of people who all feel the same way!! Why is that I wonder? Life must be WAY TOO BUSY!!! Soon I will be out of days to procrastinate the feeling!! Today brings a day last minute sewing of Christmas orders. I am using the newest fabric line that arrived at the shop which is beautiful - one of my favorites!! The photo on the right is a table runner I did up in an hour or so. It is a cheater panel. It has a Christmas feel to it I think but deiniftely not a Christmas line of fabric!! It sews up very quickly so if you are looking for a last minute project this works great!!! We had fun on Saturday with our Quick Christmas gifts with the pillowcase being the hit of the day. Everyone can use pillowcases and my customers helped me see some fabrics in the shop (photo of fabric in center picture) that i wouldn't have thought of that will make a great gift for a special friend!! Mom brought in a crazy quilt mitten which can be used as a gift card holder or a ornament which is adorable. (photo on left) She has finished up a beautiful crazy quilt throw from all her gatherings of velvet. She has embroidered all our family names on it so i am going to have to sneak a needle and thread to embroider my name on the backside so it makes it way to my house some day!! My brother and I love to tease her about that!! It has been a long standing joke at our house if there is something that we want at home we write our name on the back of it so it will some day be ours!! We are very glad to have each other here on earth and tease about what happens to our earthly possesions after are earthly departure!! We celebrated my Grandmas 88th birthday on Sunday. I enjoyed a visit with her and she was so happy to have much of her family gathered together in fellowship and food!! Well it is time to get back to my sewing machine as that comes much easier than trying to figure out this bloggin world!! I have posted the Countdown to Christmas sale on the events page of our website so if you are interested in that make sure to check it out!! Take care & keep warm!!

Good Monday to all!! Once again the snow is falling outside my window. I hope it will help me start to feel that the holiday is fast approaching!! The tree is at least now in the house and still had needles this morning so it may warrant lighting tonight following the school choir concert. I am looking forward to that as I love music and I hear the concerts are very good!! Joe, my son, is singing in it and he looked SO unbelievably handsome last night as he was donning a black dress shirt and tie. I am used to his attire being slip on athletic pants and racing shirts so if you know him, you will have to look twice to recognize him. With a dead camera batter, I cannot post a picture of him nor of the new fabric which arrived on Thursday. I did get a quick runner made up with it and if you like the dark colors, you will like this line of fabric!! We are going to have "Quick last minute holiday projects" on Saturday. If you are looking for fast projects for gift giving, we will have a table runner, napkins, pillowcases sewn in a tubular fashion, paint stix/rubbing plates, texture magic projects, woolfelt ornaments, crazy quilt mitten gift card holder/ornament and more. Check the blog or website for further information. I will try to have photos posted tomorrow provided I get a battery for the camera. We will also have instore specials on Saturday. Well it is time to get the sewing machine going so until i write again..............
