My Kinda Party. . .

Well due to snow, (yep--it finally remembered how to do that!) poor road conditions, and therefore no basketball this night we have some extra time to show and tell some fun new happenings. . .

For those of you surrounded by the icky snow-here's a little bit of color to cheer up your cloudy day.
Darci's hubby picked a winning bouquet for Valentines day this year with a beautiful array of flowers. Above is what we have been told are Orchids. There is no way for a picture to do any justice to the actual flower which just illuminated in the sunlight last Tuesday.

Those fun deep purple and aqua orchids were great mixed with this bright pink Gerber Daisy.

Certainly a day brightener in its fun pink vase with its aqua bow. Not only have we enjoyed it but so have those of you who have been in to see us.

Last Friday night us gals headed to the cities for Jason Aldean's My Kinda Party tour which fortunately had a scheduled stop at the Xcel Energy Center. Lacey has been counting down the days for this concert since Black Friday when she found out about its scheduled stop and Christmas when she found out she got to go!

Jason is kind of a country-rock kind of guy who sings about life in the country.

Jason also brought with him Luke Bryan (less rocky but equally as good) for his opening act.

Lauren Alaina (American Idol runner up) also joined the party.
We and 18,500+ other people spent the evening rocking out with Jason and the gang in what was an amazing show. We certainly didn't want the night to end but as in anything "all good things must come to an end" Certainly a Christmas gift WELL worth the wait ;)
We had great seats for the show. . .and they turned out to be even better when Jason left the stage and walked to meet Luke Bryan on this stage right in front of where we were at. The two of them played a small set with just their guitars before Jason returned to the stage to finish out the second half of his show. Fabulously amazing!!

Now on to quilting. . .

Darci finished up her Blessings quilt which features Moda's Beautiful Blessings by Mara Bochart. This is a quick quilt done up using the four large panels and has been a project many are finding themselves picking up to do for their church.

What a Hoot by This & That patterns is a fun and quick little embroidery pattern to do. This particular embroidery pattern by Sherri Falls has a bit more piecing on the outer borders but really gives it a nice finishing touch.

Wool Crazy is a class that we'll be offering in the shop in the next few weeks. Darci has been hooked on doing quaint wool applique and crazy quilt stitches on various things from this purse to a pin and a table mat (work in progress) for this group that will meet once a month.

If you are interested in crazy quilting and wool work the group is going to start meeting the 3rd Friday of the month starting March 16 from 1:30 - 4:30pm. Class is filling up quite nicely so if you are interested make sure you let us know soon!

We've also had a lot of fun getting samples stitched for a teaching & trunk show day we are doing later this spring up in Fergus Falls.

This little table topper (or wall hanging) is a really quick sample to sew up and is Darci's pattern called Crossroads & Variations. We really decided to showcase some decorative stitching in the more plain areas of the quilt to make it more appealing and different.

Lacey also got brave and decided to step out of the box and work with a bit more modern large circle and swirl print. We were quite thrilled with it's finished result and can now honestly say that you can use this pattern to showcase a nice large focal print like the one we've chosen.

(Two things to take note of in this picture)

Firstly. . .the quilt hanging to the right is also another Crossroads & Variations quilt. Isn't it amazing how different projects look when different fabrics are used? You almost can't tell this is the same pattern as the super decorative stitched one above.

Secondly. . .the runner hanging to the left is what we'll call our 10 minute table runner. It is a Pieced Tree pattern called Frame Up and not only is super, super quick and easy to sew but is also perfect for using up larger scaled fabric. It is also a really nice, usable size for a table runner.

Well. . .when I first started this post on Saturday before leaving to basketball I found this on my camera and decided to share it. I thought it was sort of fun that the icicle had formed and frozen like it has on the faucet and I actually was observant enough to see it before it melted!! Today the leaves on the well pit would be covered in a couple inches of wet heavy snow.

We hope you all have a wonderful week. Don't forget to leave a comment on any post we make this February to make sure you add your name in the hat for the charm pack give-away.
