Catching Up

We are already a whole month into this new year!
With the weather we have had the past couple of weeks one has to look at the calendar to remember that we indeed are flipping to February and not April or May.

 Hardwick's Chick
This spring-thyme fellow graced the pages of Keepsake Quilting "Almost Spring" catalog.
This version (which can be ordered through them) was created out of beautiful brown and purple plaid flannels by Marcus Fabrics.

We chose to redo the pattern in our shop out of Kansas Troubles cotton fabric.
This quilt can be found and ordered in our shop and contains cotton for the quilt top and flannel for the applique.

Stroke of Luck
This new pattern was created with one charm pack and one candy pack.
The fabrics are a different flair for us and will be coming into our shop in the next month or two.
They are called True Luck by Stephanie Ryan for moda and are sweetly printed and hued.

Finished project measures about 22" x 22" in size and would make a cute table topper or wall quilt.

This new wool mat isn't quite finished yet, but we wanted to share what we have been doing.
This mat is using the new wools by Marcus fabrics which have been a delight to stitch with.
We enjoy keeping the traditional penny look, but adding a modern twist with the sizes.

The sample is up in the shop but pattern and kits will be on hold for a few weeks or so.

This little gem is a hard one to clearly photograph to do it justice.
Who would have ever guessed that beading would be present in our shop. . .but it is!!

We have so enjoyed adding little seed beads to our projects and can't wait to keep showing the various projects that are being finished that use them.

This penny is a great way to test the water and dabble with the bead work and doubles as a great little accent by becoming a festive necklace!

This afternoon we finished adding the borders onto this table topper that we started last fall.
We are thrilled with the look the border give it (yes-it's wonky. . .and is on purpose!!)

We hope to have the sample quilted and bound by the weekend.
This project requires very little fabric!
Grab a charm pack and 1/3 yard of border/binding and you're set!

Lacey is still on a hexagon kick and used some scrap jelly roll strips to create a new little table mat.
She has to secure it to a base and then you'll get the full on photo of the mat.
If you like English paper piecing and have scraps (or candy packs) you'll want to stay tuned.

If all goes well maybe it will be a next weekend posting.

A couple recent fabric additions. . .
Crazy for Red fabric by Minnick & Simpson

Who doesn't enjoy some red that is sweet in color and design?
We are excited about this fun cheater piece that looks like mock stitching.
Those crazy quilted lines are just sweet.

Clara's Flower Garden fabric by Kansas Troubles
We ordered small but love the prints that this new KT grouping offers.
Anybody who is looking to make one of those 10 minute table runners would be thrilled with the floral and stripe combination.  We are anxious to get a project sewn up with them real soon.

Because of the Brave fabric by Moda

Stick with me, this might get a bit long. . .

"They face adversity and endure hardships; yet all too often their troubles go unnoticed. We also honor those Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines who must miss holidays, birthdays and family moments in far-away distant lands.  It is for the family members who keep the house running while their husbands, wife, son or daughter is away. It is for the children who dearly miss their deployed parent, brother, sister, uncle, aunt.  We say thank you to the men and women who have volunteered to serve our country and preserve our freedom."

All quilters who would like to create a beautiful quilt to honor a military family in their circle of friends, community or nation.  You don't have to know a military person. . .these fabrics are just fun patriotic pieces that would look nice in any person's home.

Other News
We have had enough interest to look at setting dates for another bus trip to Missouri to visit the Missouri Star Quilt Company.  We are looking at a July trip and will get the details out to you as soon as our hotel and bus is confirmed.
